tom yum kung fu.

chanced upon a review on this thai restaurant when i was researching on another buffet restaurant. i was pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming positive reviews on hungrygowhere and i've decided to try it together with my lovely girls :) & we definitely did not regret our choice , although we reeked of barbecue smell after our massive feast .

all of us were first time patrons so we had a hard time locating the place as first .
it's a humble restaurant tucked in the corner of the circular road.

outfit of the day ; floral romper from bangkok :)

by the time we've reached the restaurant, it was past 7 and the restaurant was packed.
we were told to wait for a table as there weren't any available.
business was so good even though there were so many eateries in the vicinity.
a quick check on the patrons and i was surprised that everyone ordered the bbq set.
most of the patrons were working adults in their office wear.
they didn't seem to care if they would reek of bbq smell later.

my favourite dish ; fried kang kong :)
i thought sambal kang kong would be my forever love but this is the bomb!

we ordered the biggest bbq set which was meant for four pax.
yenqin says we should order the best deal, because it's the BEST . hahaha.
we ordered tom yum goong and refreshing coconut to complete the meal .
finally got my cravings satisifed. what's more its bonding time with my favourite girls.

can't wait for our next gathering :'( time spent together always seemed so short.

i've always felt bad that i haven't got the time to meet up with my friends properly.
even if i dont get to meet them often, deep down i wished that they will all be well.
for those who're in a relationship, i hope that their partners treat them well.
for those who're single and ready to mingle, i hope they are happy and carefree.
while i wish i could make more time out, work is work.
& as we grow up , we realised that there's so much more to sacrifice on a good side ; we discover that there's much more to life that we should really value..

cheer's to an awesome august :)

two days since i'm back in town and i'm adjusting pretty well . although it feels weird that i'm not facing random food stalls on the streets when i'm out , i'm kind of happy that i'm back teaching because work makes me complete. sometimes i think i'm quite a workaholic which is not a bad trait i would say ! it was my fourth visit to bangkok and probably the most happening one.. in a good/bad way.

cecelia and i on the flight departing for bangkok .

we had a speedy flight. the past few times, the flight took three hours plus but this time round it took only two hours plus. we were so surprised 0.0 i was really glad that tiger airways depart on time because i know that they were known for their flight delays. we managed to snap cheap tickets for about 200 odd :)

i've always booked ecotel bangkok ever since cecelia introduced it to me on our very first visit to bangkok a few years back. it was relatively new then and very reasonably priced . the hotel was clean , location was not too far off from pratunam shopping area and the service was commendable. i remembered that we liked this bell boy so much that we tipped him even though we were pretty 'cash-strapped' from all the shopping. this time round , it was a nightmare. we found bed bugs and kindly requested for a change of room. the manager on duty ( can't believe they assign such an important post to someone so crude ) hollered at cecelia over the phone so we head down to speak to them. thought all would be alright until we encountered his horrible attitude - he threw the keys and muttered some thai obscenties under his breath ...  this time round i spoke up since he must have thought cecelia being so petite and all is an easy target for bullying. he was like " okay sorry go go " , rolled his eyes and went on with his work. went up to the new room and encountered yet another black face room service guy . he made it so obvious that he was super unwilling to change bed sheets for us by throwing the bed sheets on the floor . SPEECHLESS REALLY. did a quick check on the bed and realised there was yet another big stain on the bedsheet. we were tired and very upset by then. horrible experience right from the start.  we decided to head off for massage before we check out and headed off to grand hyatt hotel .

both of us goofing around with her iphone in the morning at grand hyatt.

we had such a comfortable stay at grand hyatt. thanks to cecelia and her mom,  our trip took a turn on a brighter note :) it made me adamant to work hard and earn more money so that i can stay in hotels with impeccable service such as grand hyatt at bangkok. from the service at the front desk to the service of the bell boys... PERFECT. the bell boys even took down the taxi number to ensure that we would reach our destination safely.

checked into another budget accommodation that we found through agoda - citin pratunam

the rates were slightly higher than ecotel but very affordable still ! we had a really good time there thanks to the helpful staffs as well. they actually provided a free tuktuk service at regular time slots to shopping areas like platinum mall . perfect for the both of us . while the location can be quite hard to find at first , the problem can be solved by showing the drivers the map. we loved the fact that they had a massage and spa parlour at the top level of the second building ! 300 baht for an hour of thai massage . just chuck our stuffs in the room and head for the massage ; how convenient :) they had a gym which is currently in the works. i guess it will be up for use in near future. can't wait to head back there again !

bought so many pretty and printed stuffs this time round. i think i've grown smarter after the previous trips to bangkok . buy only if you like it and not because it's cheap . didn't buy as much as before but i genuinely love all the steals i got this time round. here's a quarter of the stuffs i got . spot the topshop bralet and zara shorts replicas ? :>  can't wait to share every single piece with my baby lyla yang !

& a big hug to my travel partner cecelia low . i'm looking forward to serve your limbs again hahahaha .
will blog about lou's 21st party the next time . have a good weekend .

P.S i miss you sonia oh. you will probably not get to read this soon but i never miss you this much before oh my . stay safe my bestfwen <3

three more days to my bangkok trip with cecelia and i haven't got anything packed. i've gotten the stuffs ready but I've yet to replace my 8 year old luggage which looks like it's gonna die on me anytime. these two weeks have been nothing but crazy . i've actually allowed myself to be cajoled by yenqin to head down to LB warehouse sale for two consecutive days. nevertheless , we were pretty happy that we managed to snag a few good buys which were probably the last few pieces left.  by second day, there was hardly any apparel that's really worth the purchase so thank god for saving my wallet . since the start of great singapore sales, it's almost too painful to do anything. i wanted to avoid hitting the streets since the sales were too tempting. i never knew h&m was so reasonably priced and now that i know, it's the start of my nightmare. neither do i want to stay at home because my hands will be on my laptop and before you know it , i will be transferring money out of my account for some online purchases :/

sammy's belated birthday brunch

i've been so busy rescheduling my tuitions and doing make up classes for those who missed a lot of work during the june holidays. couldn't find a better gift for sammy hence i decided to bring her out for brunch instead. silly me thought that she wanted to try food for thought when she clearly told me it was strictly pancakes. the whole time i was thinking " sunday brunch. food for thought. " before i set off to the place , i got confused between queens street and prinsep street and i wondered where it all came about.  when i finally settled down and ordered my food, i got a call from sammy that she's at the venue and it was then that i realised i got it all mixed up. felt so bad that she had to walk quite a distance . thank god they are within the same vicinity .

recommended house breakfast set :)
didnt know we could top up 2 bucks to switch the choices

happy 19th birthday sammy :)
love you very much like my younger sister.

after brunch , i was off to meet another little sister again .
meet jessica, my cute lil german tutee who's grappling with chinese.

food for thought with two of my fave girls <3

it was my first time trying nutella tart but it wasn't to my liking surprisingly
not a better thing since chocolates are fattening.
yenqin and i goofing around while rach's looking sultry hot.
spent about half an hour doing a video for jessie's competition.

pretty girls posing with their pretty cupakes.
rach bought two cupcakes for erika and none for me.
i need to reconsider our friendship seriously.
& we've finally tried plain vanilla's  cupcakes @ holland village.
unfortunately, they failed our expectations. i prefer twelve cupcakes.
the cupcakes wasnt soft and fluffy like how i like it to be :(
nevertheless, they own the cupcakes i bought from house of mini @ CCK Lot 1
i was really craving for cupcakes on friday and i decided to give them a try.
their red velvet cupcake costs $3.50 ( and probably 2/3 the usual cupcake size )
the topping of the red velvet cupcake was pure cream , instead of cream cheese frosting.
imagine my disappointment. i would never patronise them again.

& here's darach looking so sexy and sultry in her see through get up.

& i've been caught in unglam eating shots for two consecutive gatherings...
i've no idea why my expression was captured so timely but i had a good laugh .
yes.. i found my unglam pics extremely funny somehow.

no, the fries were not hard.

ending off with a picture of my favourite girl since she's probably the first to read this post.
read it well , lil one <3
