last sunday of june.

Sonia's Farewell

at the terminal three airport to send the bestfriend off to seoul
got up at 6 in the morning and felt so groggy.
couldn't be bothered with the basic makeup/skincare whatsoever.
have been sleeping past 12 since the hols and been accustomed to getting up late.
nevertheless it was all worth it to see my babygirl for the last time before she's out of town for a good one and a half months :(  i'm missing her already ..

SWEE CHOON WITH PJCLIQUE <3

a mini gathering with the favourite peeps from JC!
havent seen gra for a long long time.
so glad that she took the effort to meet us for a meal.

& the many many dishes we ordered.
i was so full that i could barely walk straight after dinner.
all thanks to lyla yang who over ordered as usual.

with that, let's all look forward to a fun & exciting july :)

adulthood

when i was young , like really small back in the kindergarten , i've always had trouble falling asleep during the allocated sleeping hours. in fact, i would often get punished for not sleeping. sounds ridiculous isn't it? my teacher would be so fazed by my energetic self as they can't fathom why this kid just can't fall asleep. & now that i'm a grown up ( & way older ) , i constantly feel so deprived of sleep. life's such an irony , isn't it ?
when i was in primary school, i wanted to be a teen as soon as possible because i thought that would gain me more freedom and access to fun & enjoyment. now that i'm a grown up who's eligible to make my own decision in almost every aspect , i want to go back to the past when i was that young lil girl who's forced to sleep.
anyway, here to share this interesting article i got from the internet

30 ways to make your 20s better
1. Accept that you can’t please everybody, and then decide which select few opinions and feelings you value enough to try and satisfy.
2. Recognize that the grass always seems greener on the other side. Perhaps the grass you’re standing on just needs a little watering — it’s not necessarily where you’re at, so much as what you do there.
3. Don’t spend too much time on Instagram trying to decide if Hudson or Amaro is the more aesthetically pleasing effect on your picture.
4. Enjoy your journeys. Many times, the trip there is more gratifying than the arrival.
5. Make certain that you have some real friends who will tell you if you’re screwing up, regardless of whether you want to hear or not. “Yes men” will have you believing your sh-t don’t stink, but rest assured — it does.
6. Don’t allow your mood to be directly linked to your bank account balance.
7. Live as if you’re not going to make it to thirty. Too often we dread the big 3-0 instead of being grateful for the days we have now, and recognizing how fortunate we’d be to make it that far into the future.
8. If you get a text out of the blue that reads something along the lines of, “Hey, it’s been a long time” during the month of February, don’t answer. He/She just wants a Valentine.
9. If you get a text out of the blue that reads something along the lines of, “Hey, it’s been a long time” during the month of April, don’t answer. He/She just wants some of that tax return.
10. Don’t confuse the people who are often present with the people who are always there.
11.  Make a legitimate effort to have too good of a time today to worry about tomorrow.
12. Remember that the answer to every question you don’t ask is ‘no,’ and start asking more often — no matter the context.
13. If your cable/satellite bill is $20 away from being a car payment, get the basic package. You don’t need that many channels. Take advantage of Hulu, Netflix, and illegal downloading.
14. Skip Black Friday, take advantage of Cyber Monday.
15. Try to keep in mind that while all good things must come to an end, so must the bad.
16. When eating finger foods, use the hell out of your dipping sauce, and don’t be bashful. It’s much better to be out of BBQ sauce and have chicken nuggets than vice versa.
17. Whether it’s big or small, always have something to look forward to. It’s essential to help you get through things.
18. If the world doesn’t end in 2012, make plans to kill it in 2013.
19. Buy sunglasses, Tylenol and Gatorade in advance when you know you’re going to get hammered.
20. If you have to contact a girl/guy first every-single-time, take the hint, cut the ties and keep it moving.
21. If you have to eat Top Ramen for monetary purposes, do so with the genuine belief that finances and cuisine quality will improve.
22. If you don’t have to eat Top Ramen, do it anyway to keep yourself humbled.
23. Spend more money on experiences and less on material things. (e.g. trip to Las Vegas takes precedence over new iPod.)
24. When you go to Vegas, take a minimum of three years off of your life with your actions.
TC mark25. Avoid reading comment sections on the internet, especially if you’re sensitive. You’ll lose all hope for civilization.
26. Avoid physical altercations at all costs. We’re too old for fighting — use your words. This isn’t grade school where rasslin’ got you sent to the principal’s office, you risk going to jail or worse.
27. Learn how to grocery shop if you want to be a real grown up. Only some store-brand products are acceptable to purchase — cheese isn’t one of them.
28. Lay off the current generation of teens. Yeah, they do a lot of annoying, preposterous, ridiculous sh-t, but so did we at that age.
29. Save money whenever it’s possible, because as soon as you think you’re ahead money-wise, something expensive will break.
30. Always listen and ruminate, but never make important decisions based off of advice from someone who isn’t going to have to face the consequences.

a mini retreat

one more tick off the post exams to do list ; day retreat at JB !
i've had so much fun even though it's only just five of us ; rachel felicia jason kenneth and I .
thank you jason for taking the time off to bring us and kenneth too. this mini trip wouldn't have been possible without them because we wouldn't have the guts to venture ourselves .

i had no idea how much to bring since it's only a day trip. mom gave me 90 ringgit which was whatever she had left of the currency. jason told me it's more than enough since our initial plan was to catch a movie at city square and head off for zichar dinner . unfortunately, there weren't a lot of movies offered and our choice boiled down to the horror flick . good chance to test our guts and probably witness jason's first wimpy scream ever .. too bad we were only left with front row seats and the awful customer service from the counter staff put us off so badly.

lunch at nandos.
we ordered a platter and the total bill amounted to 70+ ringgit. (~28SGD)
it would have been the price we paid individually if we had dine at sg's nandos.
the cost of living in singapore is really insane..

since we were unable to settle for a show , we decided to walk around to kill time instead.
did i mention that auntie anne's and beard papa costs much lesser in JB?
sounds a little retarded but i was actually really amazed at the prices.
guess it all boils down to our strong currency which i'm really thankful for :)
we made a stop at the arcade and we played my favourite air hockey game !!
2 tokens per game = RM 1 ~ SGD0.40
in singapore it would be 2 bucks/game/player.
and the bulk of my money went to these items. ..

sandals from vincci.
both amounted to 90 RM (~37SGD)
not as cheap as bangkok but i think the quality's much better :)
so happy with my purchase!!

i ran out of ringgit after purchasing my sandals .
we ( the girls ) spent quite a while at the shop so we felt rather bad for the two boys..
it was still early and we didnt feel hungry.
we still had some time to kill before dinner so we wanted to chill at coffeebean.
we were going to coffeebean when feli asked us to check out inglot cosmetics store...

from the moment we stepped into the store,
i knew all three of us wont step out of the store empty handed..
thanks feli, you've been very kind to my wallet.

anyway, we spent close to an hour on the shop.
we were busy trying the cosmetics and listening to the staff's recommendation that we lost track of time.  guilty level at it's maximum while the guys were waiting outside. felt a little less guilty when they settle down at the quaint cafe to have some 'me-time' while we continue with our cosmetics spree.
i dont think kenneth wants to hang out with us anymore haha :p

we were very happy with the illuminating effect of this cream foundation so rach and i bagged home one each . 68 RM (~29 SGD ) really reasonable given the product quality.

last stop ; dinner at some market which is 5 mins ride from city square mall

took a cab which was pegged at 8 RM (~SGD 3.50)
we ordered five dishes ; sambal kangkong , herbal chicken , cereal prawns ( my favourite! ) , hot plate tofu and spicy lala . we wanted to order crabs but the price quoted was way too expensive. we thought we would give it a miss since we are gonna meet for crabs next week .

the total bill amounted to 101RM (~41SGD)
headed straight for the check point after we had our tummies filled.
such a simple and happy day :)

have a good week and drink lots of water to fend off the heat everyone :>
cons and pros of summer

Saturday, June 9, 2012

outfit of the day ; love bonito shorts paired with megagamie red blazer
bought this blazer last year but haven't had the chance to wear it
thank god for this season's bold palette! now it's time to be adventurous :)

my dates on a friday night . haven't felt so excited about fridays in a long time
i've a tuition scheduled on friday nights so there isn't any joy in TGIF but this week's an exception
i'm so happy that all of us are taking the effort to meet up more often .
this picture's taken in the brand new cotton on outlet in vivo city .
it's so much bigger than the usual outlets are there are much more designs stocked there .

had so much fun snapping quirky pictures ; checking out the latest loots in zara forever21 topshop etc; having heart to heart talks after the movie over finger food ; talking about how much we've grown as individuals and as a clique and how we are going to behold our future and the release of results in mid august. & then a whole new semester ensues.

" i know i'm going to do damn badly. it's a matter of how badly it is "
exams are the bane of our lives indeed.

we've finally caught the ' I AM ' movie production of SM family.
i'm not a die hard kpop fan but i listen to korean songs almost everyday.
attended SNSD's concert a few months back and was so awestruck by their stage presence
watched the movie and i'm even more awestruck .
how can they manage to stay so slim and pretty ?!
we actually saw the backstage footages and pre debut footages
when the idols had no make up and were preparing to debut as artistes.
some of them look so different and we all concluded that make up makes a difference
and of course minor plastic surgeries to refine your looks.

went for a job interview with rach keith and lylayang last week :)
finally no more bumming around !!
thanks to rach who's always very resourceful .
i've attended a few job briefings and interviews before this and they were a complete waste of time.
i'm currently tutoring so i was looking for a part time job with flexible timings.
attended this job briefing which lasted for three hours only to realise that we actually had to pay an upfront fee of $400 bucks before we could access to the database to start working ?!

titled " some autistic kid we picked up "

Opening hours :
Mon-Fri 12pm - 8:15pm
Sat 1pm - 7:15pm
(Closed on Sundays and PH)

met up with the rest for ah loy thai food :D
i've heard so much about it from lyla yang and i've finally got to try it
no pictures of the food because we were starving and the camera refused to focus
we ordered pad thai , pineapple rice , basil chicken and a few others
the pad thai was really delicious and it's my favourite dish .
not a fan of the mango sticky rice because the glutinous rice was too hard.
the food's satisfactory but it wasn't especially yummy or so in my opinion
it wasn't very cheap either, but reasonably priced.
i'm not that impressed with the service though
i would prefer nakhon thai food @ kovan.

can't wait to meet the gang for chili crab feast :)
how i wish i could feast as much as i want without having to watch my weight
until the next update !!
